Children work in groups suited to their age and experience, on one big project a term. All materials are included, and every child goes home with work they are proud of.
Children join a group that suits their age and experience, and grow with the club year after year.
Colour, shape and texture through playful projects that build confidence with every material.
Real drawing skills, painting techniques and bigger ideas told through art.
Technique meets personal style. Students work within the brief they are given, bring their own take to it and push their skills.
Portfolio-level work, exhibitions and finding an individual voice as an artist.
No lectures and no copying from a textbook. Children create freely and intuitively, while Mrs. S guides them, so the skills sink in naturally and stay.
Art club never feels like a lesson. Children make, play and experiment, and pick up the elements and principles of art along the way, often without realising they are learning anything at all.
Guided by Mrs. S's years of experience, children develop a real eye for art. They learn to feel when a picture works, rather than repeat what a textbook says about it.
Primary school is not about realism. A child who can't yet draw like a camera often decides they are 'not good at art'. Meeting many different styles keeps every door open, and realism tends to arrive later, in high school.
Grade 3s are wonderful storytellers, so their stories become their art. Every age has strengths of its own, and projects are built to bring them out. Creativity matters.
These are the building blocks of every good artwork. Children use them long before they know their names, so by the time they meet them in a textbook, they already feel them.
Elements
Principles
Each project opens with a brief, sometimes inspired by an artist's life and style.
Built up in stages, each one covering different elements and principles. Nothing is chosen at random.
By year end, artwork worth framing, plus a portfolio piece or two from every term.
Flat or 3D, wet or dry, neat or gloriously messy. Projects move through a huge range of mediums so every child finds the ones they love, and all materials are included.
From first confident marks to detailed observational drawing, and every style in between.
Colour mixing, washes, layers and bold brushwork. A happy amount of mess is all part of it.
Thinking in three dimensions: building, casting and shaping, then glazing and painting the finished piece.
Cut, layer and combine. Paper, paint, fabric and found objects come together in pieces that refuse to fit in one box.
One fee covers the whole term, every class in it, plus all materials: paint, paper, clay, clay painting and kiln firing.
Art club starts a week after public schools open and ends a week before they close.

The last art club of the year is a themed party in the studio. The table is laid, Mrs. S dresses up, and everyone celebrates a year of making together. In 2023 it was a Mad Hatter's tea party, and Mrs. S came as the White Rabbit.

Ask Lisa for a reference. Art references, Eisteddfod achievements and portfolio pieces have helped many students win scholarships, so it really does make a difference.
If art club clashes with sport, let Lisa know and she will try to help where she can.
Your child's happiness matters. If something is going on in their life, tell Lisa, so she can understand and help from her side.
Grade 1 all the way to matric. Many students stay with Mrs. S for their whole school career.
Ask about spaces for your child's grade, the timetable, or anything else. Lisa is happy to help.
